Gradespace CV Builder

A CV built for the UK, not translated from a résumé

Most builders default to American conventions — a photo, one page, an objective at the top. In the UK those choices get you filtered out. This one knows the difference, and the AI help rewrites what you wrote rather than inventing things you did not do.

Free tier needs an account so your CV is saved. No card required.

It knows UK conventions

No photo, no date of birth, no nationality — the fields do not exist, so they cannot creep in. Two pages, British spelling, dates the way UK recruiters read them.

The AI edits, it does not embellish

It rewrites your bullets to lead with the outcome, and it is explicitly told never to invent metrics or team sizes. An inflated CV gets found out at interview.

Real text, not a picture

The PDF is selectable text, so the applicant tracking systems that screen most applications can actually read it. Plenty of prettier builders fail this.

Ten templates. Two are free.

The free two are proper templates, not crippled ones — plenty of people will never need more than Clean or Classic.

  • Clean

    Free

Plain, single column, generous spacing. Reads well on any screen and parses cleanly.

Safe default. Good for applications that go through an ATS.

  • Classic

    Free

Traditional headings with a ruled divider. The layout most UK recruiters expect.

    Law, finance, public sector, academia.

  • Compact

Tighter leading and a denser grid, for long histories that must fit two pages.

Fifteen or more years of experience.

  • Sidebar

Contact details and skills in a coloured rail, history in the main column.

Skills-led roles where the stack matters as much as the story.

  • Editorial

Large name, restrained rules, plenty of white space. Confident without being loud.

    Senior and leadership applications.

  • Technical

Monospace accents for stack and tooling, with a projects section up front.

    Engineering, data, and infrastructure roles.

  • Graduate

Leads with education and projects, since the work history is still short.

    First job, placements, and internships.

  • Creative

Accent colour used with intent, and room for a portfolio link block.

    Design, marketing, and content roles.

  • Academic

Room for publications, teaching and funding. Runs longer than two pages by design.

Research posts and academic applications, where a CV is expected to be long.

  • Executive

Opens with a career summary and selected achievements before the full history.

    Director and C-suite applications.
